Energy services: smart metering
In 2018, EDF India won a call for tender to install 5 million smart meters in the states of Bihar and Andhra Pradesh. The deal with state-owned company EESL (Energy Efficiency Services Limited) is a valuable opportunity for us to support the government in its ambitious project to upgrade the country’s power distribution network and create smart cities.
Energy services: smart cities
Since 2014, Citelum India has been working with the city of Ahmedabad in western India to modernise its public lighting. The initial mission was to manage around 208,000 street lights in this city of 8 million people.
Renovating the lighting infrastructure in Noida
Working with local partner Tata Projects Ltd., Citelum helped to overhaul and modernise the street lighting infrastructure in the city of Noida, just southeast of New Delhi.
The project consisted of replacing some 74,000 lighting points with new LED lights and installing 24,500 nodes to collect information from the street lighting. In addition, Citelum’s team upgraded the 1,925 panels with a new system for monitoring and centrally controlling the lights. The materials were supplied by Tata Projects Ltd., which was also responsible for financing and supervising the project.
Transmission & Distribution
In terms of T&D, we work with a number of government-operated utilities. We are the Project Design & Management agency for India’s most important distribution utility, the New Delhi Municipal Council. In the state of Madhya Pradesh, we provided consulting services to help transform the region’s distribution network. Our approach was to focus on non-technical loss reduction, SCADA operations, and identifying ways to integrate renewables. Furthermore, we worked on the design of the Southern Regional Load Dispatch Centre (SRLDC), as well as India’s only High Voltage Test Laboratory.
