3 photovoltaic projects for Rajasthan

In 2020, EDEN Renewables India, the solar-focused joint venture of EDF Renewables, was awarded three new contracts to develop major solar photovoltaic projects in Rajasthan in northern India. Together, the three new constructions will be responsible for producing 1,350 MWp.

The contracts were all won between April and June 2020. Two of them are for 450 MWp solar photovoltaic plants commissioned by the state-owned Solar Energy Corporation of India. The other contract, also for a 450 MWp construction, is for the National Hydro Power Corporation (NHPC). Through the latter deal, we have been awarded a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement, ensuring a lasting relationship with the NHPC.

The timetable for the projects? Construction should start during the first semester of 2021, with commissioning expected towards the beginning of 2022. With a planned production of more than 2,300 GWh per year, the three plants will generate enough energy to meet the annual electricity needs of nearly 2 million people in India.
